Abstract

The emerging field of Metaverse, a virtual environment in which people connect, it has changed the worldwide cyber scene and brought with it previously unheard-of legal and security issues. The presence of notable jurisdictional gaps in cross-border cybercrimes inside these digital domains poses a challenge to national law enforcement organizations’ ability to combat cyber threats. In order to close these gaps, this study explores the nuances of cyber security in virtual settings, highlighting the necessity for AI-driven solutions. A critical examination of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime highlights the jurisdictional obstacles that still need to be overcome in order to achieve effective international collaboration, even though the draft convention has the potential to harmonize legal systems across nations. International cooperation is still essential to preventing cybercrime, although cross-border variations in legal requirements impede joint efforts. This study also examines how AI technology might improve jurisdictional gaps, automate evidence collecting, and foster cross-border collaboration. The increasing risks of cyberwarfare and cyberterrorism are also looked at, with an emphasis on the changing tactics used by adversarial states and non-state actors to take advantage of virtual platform vulnerabilities. Moreover, distinct jurisdictional issues are presented by the Metaverse’s emergence as a new battleground for cross-border cybercrime. This study assesses how AI can be used to detect, track, and deter criminal activity in these digital ecosystems while considering the geopolitical repercussions of states utilizing AI for cyberdefense against their neighbors. This study will give the insights to INTERPOLE’s commitment. This research lays the groundwork for a more secure digital future by incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into legal and law enforcement frameworks. It will give the insight for security and privacy of user data that the platform provider is gathering, and to add their own user data on top of that. They next have to explain to their consumers what this data is, why it is being gathered, and what rights they have over it in a format that is easy to grasp.
