Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) presents important ethical challenges as well as exciting prospects for child welfare systems that employ AI. The delicate field of child protection services and the intricate interactions amongst AI technologies will be investigated in this paper. Even while AI has the ability to improve decision-making, early threat detection, and utilization of resources, there are serious ethical issues with its application. These include concerns about data bias, privacy, transparency, and the possibility that AI could contribute to already-existing structural injustices. The study investigates how the use of artificial learning and predictive analytics in child welfare situations may unintentionally reinforce biased behaviours or result in unnecessary interventions. It also discusses the moral ramifications of data collecting and storage, taking into account the long-term effects on families and kids whose private data is used by artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. The topic of debate also includes the difficulty of upholding human judgment and empathy in a field where a complex grasp of interpersonal relationships is essential. The study makes the case for a sensible strategy that prioritizes ethical issues and children’s welfare while utilizing AI’s strengths. It ends by outlining a framework for the responsible application of AI in child welfare, highlighting the necessity of continuing ethical assessment, stakeholder involvement, and adaptive governance to guarantee that AI adds to the skills of humans in safeguarding susceptible youngsters rather than taking their place.
