Abstract
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into judicial systems is reshaping the landscape of justice, offering a range of potential benefits but also raising complex socio-legal concerns. On one hand, AI enhances access to justice by streamlining legal procedures, improving case management, and predicting case outcomes more efficiently. These systems can help courts address backlogs and promote consistency in judgments. However, serious challenges arise. Algorithmic bias remains a critical issue, as AI systems may unintentionally perpetuate existing prejudices, threatening the fairness of judicial outcomes. Moreover, the lack of transparency in AI decision-making processes can erode trust in the legal system, with questions surrounding the accountability of AI-generated judgments and the ethical implications of non-human decision-makers. Additionally, the use of AI raises significant privacy concerns, as sensitive personal data may be processed without adequate safeguards. The impact on the legal profession also cannot be overlooked, with AI automating tasks traditionally performed by lawyers and legal researchers, potentially displacing jobs while creating new skills gaps. These socio-legal implications highlight the need for robust regulatory frameworks and ethical oversight to ensure that AI strengthens, rather than undermines, the core principles of justice. A balance must be struck between leveraging the technological advantages of AI and protecting fundamental rights to ensure that the judicial system remains fair, transparent, and human-centered. Main objective of the study: 1. Analyze the potential benefits of AI in enhancing judicial efficiency, improving access to justice, and reducing human bias. 2. Identify the key challenges posed by AI, including algorithmic bias, accountability, transparency, and privacy concerns. Doctrinal research methodology will be adopted for further research.
