4th International Conference on Human Rights and Constitutional Law

The Centre for Legal Research and Studies (CLRS) at VidhiAagaz organised the 4th International Conference on Human Rights and Constitutional Law, held online on 9 June 2024. The conference invited academicians, lawyers, research scholars and students from India and abroad to present papers across the broad themes below.

  • Migrants, refugees and asylum seekers: legal protections and humanitarian responses
  • Artificial intelligence and human rights: ethical and legal considerations
  • Indigenous rights and environmental justice
  • Contemporary issues in constitutional law: federalism, separation of powers and checks and balances
  • Judicial independence and accountability
  • Electoral reforms and democratic governance
  • Economic, social and cultural rights: bridging gaps in implementation
  • Cybersecurity and human rights
  • Transnational human rights violations: state and corporate accountability
  • The right to education in a changing world

The list was indicative; any related topic in constitutional law or human rights was welcome.

Eligibility

Open to students, educators, researchers, academicians, practitioners, professionals, policy-makers and other stakeholders.

Submission procedure

  • Authors first submitted an abstract of 250–300 words.
  • All abstracts were subject to blind peer review; only approved abstracts proceeded to the full paper and final presentation.
  • Registration followed only after acceptance of the abstract.

Registration charges

  • Students / Research Scholars (single author): ₹700; two authors: ₹1,000
  • Academicians / Experts / Lawyers / Judicial officers (single author): ₹1,000; two authors: ₹1,500
  • Foreign delegates: $50

Submission guidelines

  • The submission must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
  • All footnotes and references must conform to the Bluebook (19th/20th edition).
  • Submissions in .doc format only, with no identifying details in the manuscript.
  • A separate cover letter with author details was required where submission was by email.

Publication

The three best manuscripts, as selected by the Board, were published in Volume 16 of Scholar’s Paradise (ISBN 978-81-947620-1-0) at no additional charge. Other selected manuscripts could be published in the volume for an optional charge.
