About this book

Digital technology has changed what counts as evidence, what can be owned and how markets behave. Courts now weigh certificates for electronic records, deepfakes and traces left in the metaverse. Copyright law is asked who owns what a machine generates and whether training a model on protected works is lawful. Regulators confront dark patterns, algorithmic management of gig workers, artificial intelligence in the boardroom and the taxation of virtual digital assets.

This volume brings together nineteen chapters from the CLRS International Conference on Law in the Digital Decade, held in September 2026, in three parts: digital evidence, cybercrime and the criminal process; intellectual property and generative AI; and markets, corporations and the digital economy. Reading the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, the Copyright Act, 1957 and India’s consumer, corporate and tax law beside comparative experience, the chapters identify gaps and propose reforms.

The book is written for students, researchers, practitioners and policymakers.
